Even though I don't wear my spectacles all the time, can I still wear contact lenses?
Yes - contact lenses can be worn on an occasional basis. The daily disposable lenses are perfect for this.

Can I wear contact lenses even though I have astigmatism?
Yes - there are several options to correct astigmatism.

I wear varifocal spectacles - can I have contact lenses?
Yes - there are several types of progressive contact lenses, as well as an option called monovision.

Are they comfortable to wear?
Yes - because lenses these days are very soft and moist they are very comfortable to wear.

Can they get lost in the eye?
Once applied to the eye, a soft lens stays in place even with rapid eye movemnts during sports. Occasionally a lens my get displaced (usually under the upper lid), but the eyelids are such that the lens cannot disappear into the back of the eye, which is a common misconception.

Are contact lenses difficult to apply and remove?
As with any new skill, this just needs practice before it becomes second nature. You will be given instructions and shown how to apply the lens to your eye and how to remove it. Most people feel confident within just a few days.

Are they expensive?
There are many different types of contact lenses and we will advise on the best lens for you in terms of comfort, vision, health of the eye and lifestyle. All our patiets are on the monthly direct debit scheme which incorporates quality care and low cost contact lenses, making wearing contact lenses affordable.
