OCT is a new, completely painless and highly advanced screening system that checks for potentially serious conditions such as glaucoma, diabetes, age-related macular degeneration and much more.
What is OCT?
OCT – Ocular Coherence Tomography – is an advanced eye scan for people of all ages. Similar to ultrasound, OCT uses light rather than sound waves to illustrate the different layers that make up the back of your eye. We also capture a digital photograph of the surface of your eye to cross-reference areas of concern.
What does OCT cost?
At Hynes Optometrists we believe that whatever your eligibility you should have the most comprehensive examination we can offer. Our Optometrists recommend the extended examination for everyone, so that we can provide you with the best and most appropriate care - the OCT 3D scan allows us to do this in a way that has not been possible before.
Hynes Optometrists were the first practice in Ealing to bring digital retinal photography onto the high street. Whilst this is an essential part of any comprehensive eye examination, it has now been superseded by new generation technology - the OCT.
We are proud to again be the first and only practice in Ealing to offer this advanced imaging and scanning technology. For the first time we can now actually see below the surface of the retina and view the microscopic layers beneath. This is very important for determining the precise diagnosis of visual problems and in helping us to guide our patients on the treatment options possible.
