Our thanks to Michael for hosting a fantastic Maui Jim sunglass promotion on Saturday 17th March.  The weather was wet and dull but we did not allow this to dampen our high spirits.  It was a good opportunity to see the new models that have been added to what is already a great collection.
Alongside the promotion we raffled a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses which raised £100 for Optometry Giving Sight.
Many thanks to everyone who supported the raffle and all who attended the promotion on Saturday.

The practice matched £ for £ every donation made by patients during October and we were delighted to send a cheque for £200 to Optometry Giving Sight.  Every pound raised makes a significant difference to eliminating avoidable blindness and transforms the lives of the 670 million people who are blind or visually impaired simply because they do not have access to an eye examination and a pair of spectacles.

Our thanks to everyone who participated in this very worthwhile cause.

Hynes Optometrists_news Our thanks to everyone who joined us today in what turned out to be a really busy and fun promotion.  Vibeke got into action at 9.30am and we were still showing the beautiful Lindberg frames to clients at 4.00pm.  At times it was difficult to choose from the vast selection of shapes and colours but this just added to the fun.

Vibeke and Parm are now very familiar faces at Hynes Optometrists and we would like to thank them for their time and commitment.

Our next Lindberg promotion should be around April 2012.  Please contact us if you would like to join us then.

Thank You for helping me raise over £1100 for Cancer Research http://www.hynesoptometrists.co.uk//news/Thank-You-for-helping-me-raise-over-1100-for-Cancer-Research/ Sat, 09 Jul 2011 00:00:00 GMT

 Hynes Optometrist Lindberg Open Day

Hynes Optometrist Moss

A few weeks ago I was delighted to meet one of my patients Helene in the supermarket - she is a cancer survivor and she was pleased to tell me that she was training for the 5K Race for Life.  I sponsored her on the spot, exchanged pleasantries and we got on with our shopping.

From that moment on I knew that I too had to do my "bit".  Almost every morning I march round our two parks like a bat out of hell, with our dog Moss in tow - giving my friends much amusement.  I knew that doing the 10K walk would be fun.

Why did I do this?  In nearly 30 years of working in the practice I have had many patients and friends tell me about their experiences with cancer - some bad, others not so.  But everyone worrying none the less.  Many have lost their fight against the disease, but increasingly many more are survivors - I  walked the 10K for each and everyone of them.

My thanks to all my family, friends and patients who supported me in this event and helped me raise a magnificent total of over £1100.  Moss stole the show on the day wearing a big pink bow and was very pleased with all the attention (and the medal) he got on the finish line.

What are my plans for the next fund raising event ........ watch this space!

Great fun was had by everyone  trying on the different sunglasses from the Maui Jim and Serengeti collections.  The sun was a tad shy on the day, but being a bright day gave everyone who attended, the opportunity to see the difference in clarity and colour looking through polarised lenses.

Protecting our eyes from harmful UltraViolet radiation is important for the health of the eyes - research has shown that UV damages the conjunctiva at the front of eye, causes cataracts and may increase macular degeneration.

We are encouraging everyone to wear sunglasses - the earlier we start the better.  So all parents out there - get your young people into the habit of wearing sunglasses now.

It is not often that we get an opportunity to hold the complete Lindberg collection and have Vibeke our frame consultant showcase the collection in her unique style.

We were also joined by Pharm, our spectacle lens specialist from Nikon. He was on hand to talk to the patients about the premium lenses supplied by Nikon, and advise on the best lens type for their lifestyle and visual needs.

Although we were very busy, we did have a chance to socialise with everyone over a cup of coffee and a slice of home-made Victoria sponge, and of course to have a chat!

The day was a resounding success and our thanks go to everyone for their support in making it so.  Our special thanks must extend to Vibeke who came over from Denmark for the day.

If you would like to be kept informed of our next event please contact us on 0208 579 3241 or sales@hynesoptom.co.uk.

    West Ealing Bowls Club 2010

The proud winners of the Open Triples Competition
(L to R) Winners Dave Pitt, Ken Baker and Barry Smith
from Masonians Bowls Club (Chiswick), with myself and
Martin Barrett Chairman of the West Ealing Bowls Club

This year Hynes Optometrists had the opportunity to be the sole sponsor for the Open Triples Competition held at the West Ealing Bowls Club.  This Club sits nestled between the back gardens of Mervyn Rd and Raymond Avenue and is a peaceful haven.  We were invited by Martin Barrett to watch the very skillful players, and for the first time had the game explained to us. The sport attracts all ages and isn't just "an old man's game" as many people think.

The Final which was held on the 20th August between the Masonians BC and the host Club was an exciting game with a close finish.  Our congratulations go to the Masonians BC for keeping us enthralled throughout the game.
